1890-1976
During the 1930s, author Agatha Christie used to spend her summer holidays at the The Shrubs in North Walsham (now the Beechwood Hotel). The house was owned by two doctors (the McLeods) whom Agatha had met on her travels in Mesopotamia.
The author’s pestle and mortar and eight leather-bound books were given to the hotel and can still be seen there today.

‘The Big Four’ was a Hercule Poirot story first published in 27 January 1927.
The letter refers to the McLeods whom Agatha stayed with in North Walsham.
