On Wednesday we welcomed Early Modern History MA Students from the University of East Anglia for a visit. They were really enthusiastic to see the documents they had requested. Of particular interest was the church book dated 1642-1839 for the Old Meeting House in Norwich. The page shown from 1650 has a passage redacted. What had Elizabeth Thurstone said when she was being ‘scandalous & filthy’ that was so awful it has been erased from history?
